Texas Ice Storm Ooooo

Well, the weather was poor enough here in Texas to cancel school so the boys and I took advantage of the ice outside!

We do not have any sleds or boots or anything like that since this is few and far between for us, but we DID have a laundry basket and a RUBBERMAID top! Have you ever had to use a make-shift sled? I am not sure it is as much fun.

I pushed them around the driveway, we explored, and then we came in to warm up! Stone's suggestion...

They grow

Their tastes have really changed. I used to be able to sit down with them and read short book after short book and now they are on to BIGGER and BETTER things...

I have been Simpsonized

And this is what I'd look like...
It's scary, but the resemblance is uncanny. I haven't watched The Simpsons in a long time minus the recent movie, but I used to really love it.
Today is the quietest day I have ever had at work to date. I love coming in to the office on the weekends. It is so relaxing.

There were little boys under those mops!

Finally Sam was able to convince the boys to get their hair cut.
Thank goodness. I know it's the style and all, but they were starting to look like little elves.
It's nearly impossible to take a picture of Stone with a nice smile.
What can I say? This is reality people!

Redneck Woman

I saw this in the walker/rider line yesterday while picking the boys up from school and thought I would share it with you. It made me smile.

A fun time...

Today I picked the boys up from school and it was just about as beautiful a day as you can ask for in January, so we decided to paint outside!

It was a great project and I found these wonderful artists to help me with the job!
All it takes is equal parts of water and cornstach and then you add in food coloring. It goes on for an experience like painting and washes off as if it were chalk!

So many ornaments. Not enough slots for them to go in.

Yes! I totally get that it is now mid January! Well, only just last week I got to do one of my most dreaded tasks. I waited just as long as I could...

The taking down of the Christmas ornaments! When you are putting them up you remember just how beautiful everything was the year before and it is SO MUCH FUN putting it all out again! The kids want to help and in my case your Mother In-Law comes over to make sure that you don't do a rotten job on decorating by yourself!

Then of course, because each year you accumulate more than you had the year before and you DID NOT save the boxes that everything came in you must head to a CONTAINER STORE near you to package everything back up to store in the attic.

Stu was a fabulous help! I couldn't have done it without him.

Plans for this year's Christmas? Disney World.
