Honky, The Baby

Caught him!

Stone has this "baby". Really it is a sheep head with a blanket on it. He carries it everywhere he can get away with it and refuses to give it up despite all of our efforts and the fact that he is now 7 years old.

Honestly, it doesn't bother me that much. As long as he restricts cuddle time with it to at night only. This just isn't the case. He sneaks it around everywhere and if you haven't heard from him in awhile you know he has it and is giving it a little sniffaroo. It's pathetically cute, but it has to end sometime. This thing is SMELLY!

He named it "Honky" a long time ago. I'm pretty sure that is slang or some type of racial slur, but totally unintentional. He was three and it stuck.

Any suggestions on how to KINDLY take this away? Remember, it is his baby and even though it is just a dirty old blanket with a sheep head, it is still my grandchild.

My mother just let us keep ours. When we got old enough we invited our friends over for sleepovers and realized that it is a little embarrassing to still have a lovey. My kids both have one and I am not going to fight them on it.

My nephew, I think he's 10 now...has the same stuffed puppy since he was a baby. It has a "Frankenstien" type look to it and Matthew used to suck the tag on the butt. I would look at him and would say, what are you suckin on? There's nothing there! Do you like sucking on his butt....he would start laughing. I bet he's still suckin on his butt. Then there's my story...I used to sleep with cloth diapers on my pillow. I had to have a cloth diaper everytime I slept. I would sneak them over to sleep overs and pull them out of my bag when no one was looking. I would call them my fresh night night. LMAO....Sometimes I would even lay one out for my future husband, Dougie Dankart (we were in kindergarten). BUt eventually I got over my fresh night nights...and now I carry a pillow around everywhere...lol.
